Another word that is closely related to or that has almost the same meaning as leadership is orientation. Certain great leaders have defined leadership as influence. Influence is more of a catalyst which modifies orientation or creates changes in it either for improvement or for deterioration.

 In other words, influence leads to reactions from the influenced which could be progressive reactions or regressive reactions.

 This simply means that influence determines orientation and by this implication it makes sense to submit that the orientation of individuals is determined by the kind of leadership they have.
